The Childlike Empress

Angelina Beroe's debut album, named after the character in The Neverending Story. Her songs sit between seventies rock and dream pop, with fragments that borrow from Prokofiev, Mahler and Serge Gainsbourg's concept albums: a French doll song, a Little Red Riding Hood with tribal drums and wolf howls. I recorded and mixed the album, contributed additional compositions and played many of the instruments, with Chiharu Bley on cello and Achim Färber on drums. Released on 28 July 2024 as a signed vinyl edition of 250.
